The Fire is Coming!

By Sid Roth

For 37 years I have interviewed people who demonstrate the supernatural power of God. This is “normal” as defined by the Bible. So why do only a relative few operate in amazing spiritual gifts while most Christians struggle? One hundred percent of the first Jewish believers at Pentecost moved in the fire of God: “And there appeared to them tongues that had the appearance of fire, these tongues being distributed among them, and one of these tongues took up a position upon each of them” (Acts 2:3, Wuest).

God says in Hebrews 1:7, “Who makes…His ministers a flame of fire.”

John the Baptizer said in Matthew 3:11, “He who is coming after me…will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

Miracles were normal in the early church. Why is most of the church not normal today? Where is the fire? As I sought the Lord during the last weeks of 2013, He showed me what was missing. At Pentecost there was an amazing outpouring of His Spirit and the people were hungry for God. Today, we are approaching the largest, worldwide outpouring of His Spirit in history. But not all will participate. Not all will be walking in biblical holiness. Not all will be hungry for more of God.

God has given His fire to a few men and women, many of whom I have interviewed. They were forerunners of the great outpouring of His fire. Rodney Howard-Browne was used, either directly or indirectly, to ignite the three biggest North American revivals in recent history. He told me about the moment the fire came. He was so hungry for God that he went into his bedroom and told God he would not leave until God came to him.

Bill Johnson attended one of the revivals that God used Rodney to ignite, and he developed an insatiable hunger for God. Bill told me that he would cry out to God all the time. His roommate at a retreat said Bill would cry out for more of God all night in his sleep. The fire came on Bill for three nights and God gave him a great miracle ministry.

I wondered — was this a sovereign move of God with Rodney and Bill or could any believer receive this same fire? This was my revelation. Because of the great outpouring that is about to happen, any believer who hungers and thirsts for more of God will be filled! But you must walk in holiness and seek His Kingdom first. The call is going out right now. Will you have enough oil (a type of the Holy Spirit) like the five wise virgins of Matthew 25?

Here is how you can be filled. Begin crying out to God for more of Him and for His fire. Start now! God says in Matthew 5:6 (Wuest): “Spiritually prosperous are those hungering and thirsting for righteousness, because they themselves shall be filled so as to be completely satisfied.”

But with the fire comes a strong warning. Pride will raise its ugly head and cause many to fall. This is what happened in the 1940s. God touched hundreds of “nobodies” who started tent revival meetings. Because people idolized their gifting and they were not all walking in biblical holiness, most fell into sin. God says in Romans 11:29, “The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” That means even if you go into sin, the gifts will still operate. This is exactly why Jesus taught the parable on the wheat and the tares. They look the same as they are growing side-by-side, but on Judgment Day the tares will be burned with wailing and gnashing of teeth. The tares are the weeds that look and act like wheat (true believers). They will start with sound doctrine and mighty miracles, but because of pride they will gradually begin teaching false doctrine. Many people will be deceived because the false teachers started out with sound teaching and because they continue to demonstrate miracles, even after going into error.

My safeguard to protect me from deception is my board of directors. We are charter members of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). This is the organization Billy Graham started. It was organized for ministries to have standards of accountability. For instance, my board is made up of a majority of non-family members. The board can fire me by a majority vote if I am in error.

Since launching this ministry in 1977, we have had a reputation of integrity. And this year Joy and I will celebrate 50 years of marriage. I never want to bring reproach on God’s name. I know everything He has done through me to date was in preparation for this moment in history. At 73 years young I feel like I am just entering my destiny. My passion is to mentor you in His character, love, grace, gifting and all that is available in the supernatural. My heart’s desire is for you to know God, increase your intimacy with Him, hear His voice and fulfill your destiny. I want you to stop being a spectator and become an active participant!

Our emphasis is on the supernatural and Israel. Why the supernatural? Because showcasing the supernatural of God is the biblical method to evangelize the world! Why Israel? Because all end-time events are centered on that tiny nation. And if you are on the wrong side of the fence on Israel, you will be on the wrong side of the fence with God!

Many who watch our television show are lost in the New Age. They are attracted by the title It’s Supernatural! and the miracles. The more they watch, the more that get saved! Many are into other false doctrines. This is why I have hard-hitting shows on topics that most will not mention for fear of losing financial supporters. But I love God more than having a large ministry.

God has been flooding me with His ideas for evangelism through the media. I want to do a secular television special on life after death experiences. Can you picture my man-on-the-street interviews in which I ask questions such as, “Are you fearful of death?” I know it is God’s time for this special. I can see millions throughout the world coming to faith.

God has just downloaded the concept for a secular television cartoon show for children. It will be called “Supernatural Sid.” And our new television network — It’s Supernatural! Network (ISN) — is available on every computer and smart phone in high definition worldwide. We now have our ISN App available for free in Apple’s App Store! Watch for the Android App coming soon. We have just finished translating our original thirteen It’s Supernatural! television shows into Spanish that we will begin to air throughout the Spanish-speaking world. And a great miracle has happened! Our TV show is now airing on Discovery Channel Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m.

Why is God pouring out His fire now? Great darkness is just around the corner. Only those who are “normal” will survive. Begin now to cry out to God for more of Him, for more of His love, and for His fire. Get desperate. Give Him no rest. The fire is coming on me and you!

Why? He is coming back soon! Everything we do must result in souls. Proverbs 11:30 says, “He who wins souls is wise.” And Daniel 12:3 proclaims, “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.”

Because we are debt free and pour our money into souls by going to the Jew first, those who partner with us will shine like the stars forever and ever!

Healing the Brokenhearted: The Most Neglected Ministry of Jesus

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted… (Luke 4:18).

Jesus Healed My Heart

I suffered with a broken heart for many years. It crippled me in many areas of my life, but I was totally unaware of it. I was saved and even ministering for the Lord. Yet it felt like I was driving down the interstate at 65 miles per hour with the emergency brake on. It wasn’t that I was in sin. I just knew there was some kind of resistance inside but I didn’t know what it was.

One day I heard an interview with a woman who had done an extensive study on children from divorced families. She found that most of these children grow up with broken hearts. It hit me that my parents were divorced shortly after I was born. Could it be that I had a broken heart?

I was so desperate to find out what was wrong inside me, I cried out “Lord, if I have a broken heart, please reveal it and heal it.”

At first, I had a tremendous feeling of loneliness. This wasn’t loneliness like I had gone on a trip for a couple of days and missed my wife and family. This was a loneliness that felt like I was dying.

For two or three weeks, I would lay my head on the pillow at night and the tears would flow. The loneliness was overwhelming. During this time I was praying to the Lord, “Heal me from this.” And then one day, I was lying in bed and it left. It was like someone suddenly lifted 300 pounds off of my shoulders.

God showed me that my broken heart came from being separated from my father after my parents divorced. Once my heart was set free from the trauma, I was also healed from a fear of rejection. I had a great peace that I lacked before. And I received an inner strength that revolutionized my walk with the Lord. I had a new release of God’s gifting that was blocked because of my broken heart. A whole new ministry opened up for me.

The Shattered Heart

The Bible uses graphic words to describe what happens when a heart is broken. The picture is of a violent tearing and fracturing of the heart. It is a violent act that shatters the heart into pieces. If you have ever seen a picture of a severely fractured bone, this is what a broken heart looks like spiritually! The event that shattered the heart may not be violent, but the effect on the heart is.

Within the broken heart lies anger, fear, anxiety, terror, hatred and bitterness. These emotions are what lead to panic attacks, depression, and the need for prescription drugs. It is the broken heart that generates these emotions, which are only symptoms. The real problem is a broken heart.

There are many things that can break our hearts, including: divorce (this is especially devastating to children), abuse (both physical and mental), abandonment, rejection, hatred, war, abortion, tragedy and death.

It seems that this world is designed to break our hearts. Once the heart is broken, there is nothing on earth that can fix it. Psychology with all of its drugs cannot heal it. There are self-help programs with various steps to peace, but they cannot heal it. There is nothing in the natural that can heal a broken heart because the root is spiritual. Only Jesus can heal a broken heart.

It is very interesting to examine the way Jesus heals a person’s heart. If someone’s leg is severely fractured, a doctor will put the bones back together and bind the break. This might involve putting screws in the bone and then putting a cast around the leg, holding the break together so it can heal.

In the same way, the Great Physician takes all the broken pieces and puts them together and then binds up the heart so it can heal and remain healed!

If you are ready to declare a love war, I want to pray this supernatural prayer over you:

“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted…” (Isaiah 61:1 NASB).

The Bible calls a broken heart a “heart of stone,” but the heart healed by Jesus is called a “heart of flesh.” It can be viewed as a heart transplant!

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26).

The new healed heart is in tune with God. All those emotions that torment people can now be permanently defeated and people set free to live with God’s peace in their hearts. Through the mighty power of the Holy Spirit, God is now able to put to death fear, anxiety and depression.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

God has designed the healed heart to contain His love and peace. As we grow in God, His love and peace grow in us to the point that nothing can take away our peace and nothing can drain His love from our hearts!

Healing Begins with Forgiveness

When God healed me, He showed me a series of steps to heal anyone’s broken heart. The first step is to forgive whoever broke your heart. Most of the time this is another person, but you also may need to forgive yourself. Through Jesus, God forgives us of all our sins and He requires that we forgive everyone who has sinned against us.

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you” (Matthew 6:14).

If the event that broke your heart was so severe that you don’t think you can forgive, turn to God and ask for His grace and love. God will give whatever is needed to help you forgive.

We also need to accept God’s forgiveness. Some have bought the lie that they cannot be forgiven. This is especially true of women who have had an abortion. If a woman has repented of this and turned to Jesus as her Savior, then God forgives, and she must accept this forgiveness to have her heart healed.

Others may have a grudge against God for some reason. This grudge must be confessed to God for this person’s heart to be healed.

Once you forgive whoever broke your heart, God is now free to heal your heart and set you free.

Healing the brokenhearted is extremely important to God. It is not a minor issue with Him but ranks right after Jesus’ gospel of eternal salvation. Through faith in Jesus, God has provided all we need to live with a healed heart that is full of God’s love and peace!

Patricia KingFather, I pray for my friends right now that you would heal them of the pain in their heart caused by mistreatment, persecution, slander and betrayal, and show them how to forgive and how to love as You love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
